One of my favourite personal photos is one that should never have happened.
I took my old fashioned manual camera with a detachable 135mm lense to the beach! I didn't know til much later what a risk I was taking with all that sand and wind!
However this was the result, and though it won't win any awards, it delighted me at the time. mastodon.org.uk/media/FYTCVtj8

@amos I hope you don't mind a follow; and I apologise for busting in on an old conversation - I've only just found out how to 'see' both sides of a conversation in mastodon (I'm a traditionally slow learner) and got overenthusiastic!

Let's hope you are not too old when you gain the confidence. You need youthful enthusiasm to teach anything, particularly against the odds!

Jean-Paul Sartre said "Hell is other people" but he is wrong, Hell is other people's children. Why am I reminded of this every other day? What did I do to deserve it?

@xvilo Sem, I think I am missing something about mastodon. All I see are peoples outpourings, or one-sided conversations. Is it possible to see both parties of a conversation?

When you are waiting for your computer to finish up converting a video, What do you do?

After celebrating Lidl's offerings of duck breast, never seen before in England (by me), I'm frustrated by not being able to find Madeira wine gravy mix to serve with the duck.
God, the UK is a gastronomic desert!

Polo - a multi-configurable linux file manager that just gets better and better!
It has a strange way of moving files (via cut and paste!) but very convenient when you've got used to it.
The winner for me is it's ability to download videos from a copied url. This works when many browser extensions fail.
Polo file manager (Linux) - give it a try.

By the way, I mentioned my music tidying up because it was a mammoth task - or should it be a Mastodon task? I know, I know, sad isn't it! I just needed a bit of light relief from the task in hand.

I'm convinced ISIS would claim responsibility for any and every disaster or other misfortune to befall any non-Muslim anywhere in the world, regardless of truth. Winkers!

Currently tidying up my music collection, filenames, covers & tags, it is made easier by a Linux prog called Puddletag. Classical tagging is the by far the most difficult to organise. OCD rules! ๐Ÿ˜‚

A majority of people seem to be choosing which laws they prefer to adhere to in the UK. Is it because they know they are unlikely to get caught?

Greece is a wonderful example of EU so-called help! I hope UK walks away, no deal. Can't 'help' us then.

@Caramale they are just doing the same they did during the 40 years of Franco's dictatorship. Leaving Spain alone because there are to many interests.
And they show the big hypocrisy of our society criticizing the repression and the lack of true democracy and fundamental rights in states like Turkey or Venezuela but not saying anything about what happens here in the EU.
They are all moved by economic interests and not by any sort of values.

Found this today:

A Somali Proverb

Me and my nation against the world,
Me and my clan against the nation,
Me and my family against the clan,
Me and my brother against the family,
Me against my brother.

Interesting insight!
