After a long absence - A Moment in Time returns, I hope with daily toots. Today it's a picture from inside St. Hilda's in South Shields, England, a city at the mouth of the Tyne. This is where my mother's mother and her ancestors come from. This little lifeboat is hanging from the ceiling of St. Hilda's as a tribute to the heroic lifeboat crews of the area. There is a full size South Shields lifeboat in the park - a thing of beauty.. .

A picture of the lifeboat in the park, with info from "crazymom52" - "The "Tyne" Lifeboat, built in 1833, is the world's second oldest lifeboat in existence. It was given to the Tyne Lifeboat Institution 1884 & put on display to honor the men of the Institution. It was severely damaged by a bomb in 1941 & restored." As I recall, the thick area around the top is cork.
