Anyone out there ever try a Purism Librem laptop (13 or 15)? Really curious about any feedback and there are very few reviews online. They look good - but a bit expensive!
Brace yourself, LinuxFest NW. Lunduke is coming.
Got my BlackBerry KeyONE yesterday and so far loving it. As a mechanical keyboard nerd I have to say, this is a dream so far. Nice clicky buttons and great slide and touchpad features.
So obviously I had to take a picture of it alongside my Happy Hacking Keeb.
Been using the new #system76 Pop Theme for Gnome shell for 24 hours so far and absolutely love it. Such a breath of fresh air over the staid arc and dark themes. Great work guys ! /cc @ryanleesipes
So we are at version 1.3.1 of Mastodon right now! How does this feel? 😎
Of the 6 shows listed on the sidebar of r/Linux... I (co-)created half of them. Apparently I make shows about Linux or something. :p
OK....have had my new Happy Hacking Keyboard (HHKB) Professional 2 for about 24 hours and I'm totally, utterly, and completely smitten. I'm tempted to use the term 'endgame' here. This may be the one.
Trying to decide between the #system76 Oryx Pro or new Galago Pro. Have preordered the Galago Pro but having second thoughts and now considering the Oryx Pro. Anyone have an Oryx and any feedback/recommendation? Thanks!
Just ordered a KDE Slimbook with very little info on the device or the company that makes it (101 Slimbook in Spain). Must say the Slimbook site looks a bit dodgy but just so keen to support the KDE Team and be on the same machine as the developers. Will update when I receive it!
S8 Update - the iris scanner on the Samsung Galaxy S8+ is lightening fast. Seriously, crazy fast. Even in low light and at bad angles. Game changing. I have no idea how I can go back to a fingerprint scanner (like an animal) at this point!
This is by no means perfect and its kinda hacky to get it working but here are the first baby steps towards HiDPI for Ubuntu MATE.
This screenshot was taken on my Dell XPS 15 with 15.6" 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) InfinityEdge touch screen running Ubuntu MATE 17.04 plus some dirty hacks. https://hostux.social/media/82ZTEwKWQTaXU6qsAn4
It truly bums me out how many engineers end up at Google. This world could be so much more without advertising and advertising accessories.
Dear fellow #Mastodon users. Please be patient with the people creating Mastodon and GNU Social.
Writing software takes time, and the teams working on these applications are very small.
Most of them are also wearing many hats. Some are students, others have full time non-Mastodon jobs. Some admin instances in addtion to writing code.
The Twitter kitchen probably has more people working in it than the entire #Fediverse. Please adjust your expectations accordingly! 😄
Have had the Samsung Galaxy S8+ for about 12 hours and can say this is simply the best phone on the market. Miles ahead of iPhone / Pixel.

We spend some time discussing one rather important topic in the news and that’s the announcement of Ubuntu’s re-focus from mobile and convergence to the cloud and Internet of Things. https://octodon.social/media/DaYKBA0dKkWlKzeM6AE

My latest keeb look and layout - WASD V2 keyboard with Cherry MX Blues. Since getting into mechanical keyboards a few months ago I just can't stop chopping and changing ! No wonder they call it the rabbit hole...
