I know there’s a perpetual debate about #cycling #helmets and I would never dream of forcing anyone else to where one forcibly. However, today I was cycling home and I was passing a couple of pedestrians on a shared path on a bit where some of it had been blocked off. As I got into the narrowed lane, I noticed too late that there was a very heavy low hanging branch on which I banged my helmeted head quite hard (I mean loudly).
Forcing forcibly? Oh dear, I see it’s time to go to bed.
@mkwadee In The Netherlands people don't weat helmets while cycling, only the lycra cyclists do. Never thought of low hanging branches...
@mkwadee Glad you are ok. I've hit a tree branch as well. Not fun.
@pla1 It was too late to avoid but no damage done to me, thanks. I think the helmet's OK too.
You remind me of the first motorcycle I rode, at first without a helmet.
Then I ran "headlong" into a giant beetle or other large bug.
After that I always wore a helmet.
@mkwadee I once cycled with my family on a path, created for bikes only in the Peak District. Cars could not come there. Yet everyone (except me) wore a helmet, just because it was a custom.
Luckily, the helmet took the blow and I was unharmed. So today’s lesson for me is that it’s not just there to protect me if I happen to fall off.
