I don’t usually have #cat pictures to post. But I do today.
I got a privacy notice from Condé Nast. In 8 days' time, they will include forced arbitration in their user agreement for everything you do with them, just because you happened to visit their web site. I blogged about it. You can mail a paper letter to New York City to opt out. #privacy #digitalrights
In an effort to cut down on waste at the #holidays, we are using fabric, which we will gather up and reuse at birthdays, and future holidays. Sometimes I’m just wrapping a flat sheet of fabric. But one of my recipients is getting 3 Paul Garmirian #cigars. So I hand-made a custom cigar wrap from cloth.
Anybody I know want to host a box on the internet basically free? I work with an “internet co-op” where we have a ghetto server room, 100M internet connection. A couple of /24s and basically freedom to do an awful lot of whatever you want. It’s totally DIY, though. We just provide power, connectivity, cooling, and pretty minimal security. It’s old school internet. The way it was back in the day. Location is in Fairfax, VA, near DC. PM me if you’re interested.
With the re-election of the tories and the likely reelection of Trump I will turn inward. I will live my values and focus on making the world good in my sphere of influence. I will find some way to undo what they do, using my own two hands. If my fellow citizens want to come along, great. And those brave politicians representing my values will have my support too.
@janellecshane This sounds like ML gone wrong, no? Given very little input (a user’s first few clicks), really bad results.

My first ever fictional short story. "Terms and Conditions". https://blog.paco.to/2018/terms-and-conditions-short-story/
One of my reverse culture shocks moving back to the US was the prevalence of tipping and the various delivery services that get things delivered. I blogged about it. https://blog.paco.to/2019/tips-in-the-gig-economy/
I wrote a blog post on how to send AWS CloudTrail to ElasticSearch and get a neat dashboard. This is my first blog that will have comments via mastodon. https://blog.paco.to/2019/cloudtrail-to-elasticsearch/
