Simply put, more than or all the other things I usually toot about. I did a little bit this weekend to help. Trump sent me $2500 I didn't need in the CARES Act. I've given every last cent of it to people he wouldn't have given it to, and who need it more than I do. blog.paco.to/2020/black-lives-

Do not post a corporate statement of solidarity with Black Lives Matter unless it comes with a check to help the people who are doing the work.

Earlier today, I wanted to help the in because . A number of people are matching donations. So far about 5 of us have done matches. We've committed about $15,000. I put up $2500 (exactly how much the IRS sent me from the CARES Act) and it was gone in about an hour. If you're interested in having an impact, hit up _K_E_L_S_E_Y on Twitter. She's got more people matching: twitter.com/_K_E_L_S_E_Y/statu

One of my most popular blog posts (near the top if you search for "I Hate Lego") is this one. I've updated it in 2020 and created this thread in case people want to comment on it. blog.paco.to/2012/6-reasons-wh

Here's an idea I don't think we will see proposed again for a very long time... training on a cruise ship!

Paying workers anything higher than a shamefully low wage and keeping the place clean enough that they don’t all get sick was too expensive. So we are shutting the business down.

I help run a web site for people who have some kind of injury (physical, genetic, disease-related). carecure.net/ Is one of the oldest (20 yrs!) and most well-populated communities. Full of experienced and friendly people living with SCI issues, and regular posts from deeply experienced nurses who treat SCI cases. If you or someone you know is living with SCI, introduce them to the CareCure Community.

Happy International Workers' Day!

We whine about 8-hour workdays being long but we got it down to 8 hours 5 days a week literally through the blood and deaths of protesting workers demanding their freedoms while the police shot at them. Capitalism kills; your VC buddies and billionaire idols don't give a shit if you live or die.

We applaud every organization that stood up for .ORG as the NGO sector's home online, and especially @NTENorg and @NatlCouncilNPs for their leadership and refusal to compromise.

Such red hot garbage.☞ “Kids Need Encryption Too”

It’s not that I disagree. It’s just classic list a bunch of problems (cyber bullying, stalking, etc) and then say “make sure kids use encryption”, which doesn’t address the problems AT ALL. You can get bullied by end-to-end encrypted messenger. Switching platforms does nothing. This is a stupid article.

A lot of people are ordering food from restaurants to support them. I get that. Some are even having it delivered. I haven’t eaten anything I didn’t prepare myself in like 45+ days. I don’t know health of people preparing my food and I certainly don’t know the health of people delivering. That seems like a lot of risk to me, especially if I do it often enough to support a business. I don’t see how to balance this.
