well Monday started out badly. I don't historically interact much online but recently I have been getting some abusive replies. I just don't understand how people think that's ok, especially given the mess you are all in now. It is what it is, I guess I can just ignore this all.

Sure. Mainly because they're a couple of steps removed from meeting you in a RL setting, I suspect.
