Sprimg is clearly coming. Southwest UK electricity is 87% solar, 11% gas -yet that 10% still means mid-afternoon electricity has a 44g/kWh CO2 cost. Gas is not a "carbon transition" fuel -it is a CO2 source the way solar power isn't.

Tomorrow I'll charge our car from our own 15 y.o solar panels, going from 38% to 70% from our own zero CO2 source.

So far this year we have put in 40 kWh of electricity; 20 kWh a month. From now until September I should be able to do it completely at home for day-to-day use and the outbound half of longer journeys

InstaVolt's Winchester charging station is coming together, placed perfectly for a trip to Portsmouth and back.
As well as 30+ car bays, they are adding drive-through bays for people towing their caravans from London to the south coast

They've 500 kW of solar + a 4 MWh battery. They can store their electricity until needed – & in winter they can charge it with off peak power.

They're even adding things like a play area for kids & a café. This is the future of motorway service stations

BP officially embraces climate change -because their competitors who embraced high carbon are delivering higher returns to shareholders.

FWIW in the UK, the BP EV charger network are notorious for unreliability, primarily due to a lack of investment in newer chargers. They have a network of underpowered chargers that rarely support payment by debit cards or apple/google pay. Avoid.

Clearly their HQ has decided not to invest in it. I wonder how long it'll survive at all.

"Overall, this is a very welcome report from the #ClimateChangeCommittee with a robust analysis that lets the #government, industry and citizens know that the pathway to #netzero is possible and very much needed. However, it does place enormous responsibility on some key #technologies and their rapid roll out to achieve these goals."

Despite what Farage and Reform might claim,

"The #NetZero sector is growing three times faster than the overall #UK economy, analysis has found, providing high-wage jobs across the country while cutting climate-heating emissions and increasing energy security.

Net zero businesses accounted for 1.1% of the UK’s total GVA, making it bigger than the farming and advertising and market research sectors." And growing fast.
