I posted this over on my personal Scottish account and noticed a statistically significant proportion of #PHP developers liked it. Are we used to mash ups? Reposting link in case there are other hungry devs of Scottish ancestry out there. 😋

Haggis, neeps and tatties on a plate

As someone who (almost) doesn't drink, not for any religious or health reasons, but simply because I fell out of the habit, it means I still have various half-consumed bottles of booze at home.

Anyway I have put a haggis on to cook but didn't realise how long the little beastie takes. Which means I've started on this golden syrup already. God knows what state I'll be in when it comes to mashing those neeps and tatties!

It's probably impossible to make a plate of haggis, neeps, and tatties look attractive and appetising, too much beige 😂.

My attempts at quenelles for the tatties were pathetic and took so long that I abandoned the idea, everything was in danger of being stone cold. So the haggis was dumped on the plate, and the sauce on top. This was the best-looking of the lot. However, it was quite delicious.

Now down to some serious sipping, sharing and enjoying the company of friends 🥰

A Bottle and a Friend

Here's a bottle and an honest friend!
What wad ye wish for mair, man?
Wha kens, before his life may end,
What his share may be o' care, man?
Then catch the moments as they fly,
And use them as ye ought, man:
Believe me, happiness is shy,
And comes not aye when sought, man.

"Fair fa’ your honest, sonsie face,
Great Chieftain o’ the Puddin-race!
Aboon them a’ ye tak your place,
Painch, tripe, or thairm:
Weel are ye wordy of a grace
As lang ‘s my arm..."
